About this role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture to lead the design and development of AI‑enabled, business‑critical user interface solutions. This role requires excellent hands‑on development skills, strong technical design judgment, and the ability to mentor engineers while delivering secure, scalable, and enterprise‑ready applications.

The successful candidate will work closely with Wells Fargo India technology teams and U.S.-based partners to design and implement high‑quality frontend solutions that leverage Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities while adhering to enterprise standards for security, reliability and maintainability.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives, including those that are companywide and have broad impact

  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex, large‑scale technology solutions

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document software solutions for projects and programs

  • Review and analyze complex technology solutions in support of tactical and strategic business objectives within the enterprise technology environment

  • Make technical decisions by applying industry best practices and emerging technologies to complex enterprise challenges

  • Collaborate and consult with senior technology leaders, architects, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues

  • Lead projects and initiatives, provide technical direction, and serve as a peer mentor

  • Apply strong problem‑solving and analytical skills to reason through complex problems independently or collaboratively

  • Communicate effectively through clear written and verbal communication, including work with distributed and onshore teams

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound technical judgment

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to understand team dynamics and positively influence outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education

  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern frontend development principles

  • Experience developing enterprise UI applications using Material UI and React Bootstrap

  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and accessibility standards

  • Experience with state management libraries such as Redux and Context API, with sound judgment on usage

  • Experience implementing frontend application security best practices, including secure API integration and data handling

  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles and experience collaborating with design teams

  • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests using Jest and React Testing Library

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and frontend integration patterns

  • Proven experience working with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, Harness, Sonar, Gradle, or similar

  • Experience working within an Agile software development lifecycle

  • Experience delivering solutions that leverage Generative AI (GenAI), such as AI‑assisted workflows, intelligent search, or conversational user interfaces

  • Understanding of LLM‑based solution patterns, including prompt design, grounding strategies, and frontend integration with AI services

  • Experience integrating AI services into enterprise applications with awareness of security, privacy, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to collaborate with backend and platform teams to deliver end‑to‑end AI‑enabled solutions

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with micro‑frontend architecture, including modular and independently deployable UI components

  • Familiarity with Mosaic‑based UI frameworks and enterprise design systems

  • Python programming experience

  • Understanding of cloud‑native principles and experience developing or deploying applications in cloud environments; OpenShift (OCP) experience is a plus

  • Exposure to AI governance, responsible AI practices, or hallucination mitigation strategies

  • Knowledge of the Banking and Lending domain

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

$119,000.00 - $187,000.00
