Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Specialty Software Engineer in the Chief Data Office for Product Delivery, you will serve as the product and delivery leader for Enterprise Python Platforms Enablement Engineering, driving the strategy, standards, adoption, and execution that empower engineering teams across the firm to build secure, scalable, production-quality Python solutions. This role bridges the gap between high-level product goals and low-level code implementation, focusing on building sustainable, AI-native systems. Python Domain expertise, writing clear and complete Requirements (Software Specifications) and prior experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst for Python Frameworks, Python Web Applications and/or ML Platforms is required to successfully execute in this role.
A modern product delivery Lead Software engineer with AI and spec kit experience operates at the intersection of software architecture, AI agent orchestration, and structured delivery methodologies. They shift from "coding first" to Spec-Driven Development (SDD), using frameworks like GitHub Spec Kit & BMAD-Method to define requirements, constraints, and architecture, which then allow AI agents to generate code, tests, and documentation automatically. This role sits at the intersection of product management, engineering enablement, and governance, where you will define roadmaps, align stakeholders, manage delivery execution, and ensure that enterprise Python standards, frameworks, and tooling are adopted consistently and effectively across the organization. This is not a heads-down coding role; it's a role that prioritizes Spec-Driven Development with AI agents to from high Level requirements to Working software. It is a leadership-intensive position that requires the ability to bridge business and technology, drive agile delivery at scale, manage global multi-disciplinary teams, and champion governance and compliance in a highly regulated financial services environment while advancing the Gen-AI Driven SDLC life cycle.
In this role, you will:
- Own the product roadmap for enterprise Python enablement, defining priorities, success metrics, and adoption milestones in alignment with CDO strategy and enterprise architecture standards – Defined as Specifications usable by Agents leveraging reusable skills leveraging LLMs.
- Translate complex business, regulatory, and engineering requirements into clear, actionable product backlogs, delivery plans, and adoption of playbooks.
- Lead end-to-end delivery execution including roadmap planning, sprint planning, backlog grooming, capacity planning, release management, and performance tracking.
- Drive quarterly Big Room Planning and cross-team alignment to ensure coordinated delivery of Python enablement initiatives.
- Act as primary escalation point for delivery risks, cross-functional dependencies, and prioritization conflicts.
- Partner with Principal Engineers and Architecture teams to shape Python reference architectures, reusable libraries, and framework standards, then drive their adoption across teams.
- Drive the adoption and consistent implementation of enterprise Python development standards, security policies, and operational frameworks across CDO engineering teams.
- Ensure audit readiness and adherence to data governance, regulatory, and security standards across all Python-based solutions and services.
- Lead, mentor, and develop global, multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, product owners, and analysts, fostering a high-trust, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
- Serve as the primary stakeholder interface for Python enablement, managing communication, expectations, and alignment across engineering, data, platform, security, and business leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, knowledge sharing, and adoption of best practices across the organization.
- Support hiring, talent development, succession planning, and capacity planning activities.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of experience in technology delivery within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
- 5+ years of experience leading end-to-end product or program delivery, including roadmap ownership, backlog management, sprint execution, and release management.
- 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on platform, infrastructure, or developer tools.
- 5+ years of experience driving enterprise standards adoption, engineering enablement, or technology governance programs across large organizations.
- 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring global, multi-disciplinary technical teams (engineers, analysts, product owners).
- Experience with Agile methodologies at scale (Scrum, SAFe, Big Room Planning, SVPG Product Operating Model).
- Experience ensuring compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards in an enterprise engineering environment.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into technical delivery plans and scalable enablement strategies using python.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills, to lead Office Hours, Lunch & Learns, Town Hall, Show & Tells and events.
- Familiarity with the Python ecosystem, software development lifecycle, and enterprise engineering practices (technical fluency required; deep hands-on coding is not, but you need to be able to write, read, review, describe and debug code and make design decisions).
Preferred Qualifications:
- BPMN Experience – Certifications, Training and prior knowledge and application of Business Process Model and Notation.
- SVPG Experience – Certifications, Training and prior knowledge and application of Silicon Valley Product Group (SVPG) Product Operating Model.
- Experience with AI/ML tools, frameworks, platforms and their application to engineering productivity and analytics enablement.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms and tools (e.g., Teradata, PostgreSql, Dremio, MongoDB, Google Cloud BigQuery).
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS, Dremio) and container platforms (Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift OCP).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and infrastructure automation (GitHub Actions, Harness Engineering, Kubernetes Platforms)
- Working knowledge of SQL databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSql, or Teradata
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent agile / Product Manager / Product Owner certification.
