Virtualization and Hardware Engineering Director

About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a skilled and experienced Virtualization and Hardware Engineering Director to lead a team responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise virtualization platforms and physical hardware infrastructure. This role will oversee the performance, scalability, and security of virtualized environments and server hardware systems across data centers and cloud environments.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a team of engineers focused on virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and hardware infrastructure.
- Oversee deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of virtual machines, hypervisors, and physical servers.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning of infrastructure systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure capabilities with business needs.
- Drive automation and optimization initiatives to improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies in virtualization, containerization, and server hardware.
- Establish and enforce infrastructure standards, best practices, and security policies.
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement for hardware and virtualization tools.
- Monitor infrastructure KPIs and deliver regular reporting on system health and capacity planning.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 8+ years of strong expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, etc.)
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware, storage, and networking
- 8+ years of familiarity with container platforms (e.g., OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
- 8+ years of proven ability to lead teams and manage complex infrastructure projects
- 8+ years of excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
- 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in Virtualization
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Infrastructure & Operations
- CompTIA Server+, Network+, or equivalent

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$215,000.00 - $355,000.00Benefits
