Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead agile engineering teams supporting technology solutions development on Loan IQ.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead agile engineering teams supporting technology solutions development on the Loan IQ application
  • Ensure the Loans/Loan IQ platform is reliable, robust, and sustainable, while adhering to best practices.
  • Provide expert functional insights into the design and implementation of the Loan IQ system, including guidance to the team on native functionalities and custom development
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers
  • Engage and influence more experienced product leaders, lead systems architects, and engineering managers who are either associated with the function or affected by its outcomes
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Interpret and develop actionable strategies and plans for engineering teams and supported areas
  • Oversee engineering teams to deliver commitments aligned to line of business strategic priorities
  • Support financial forecast and budget development
  • Recommend risk management requirements for supported area and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Collaborate with and influence stakeholders, more experienced product leaders, and all levels of professionals, including senior managers
  • Act as the primary interface with third party vendors and technology service providers supporting products within the portfolio
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry forums
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Software Engineering
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of senior engineers and engineering managers and assists in hiring top engineering talent.
  • Collaborate within and across agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and methodologies.
  • Ensures the craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers
  • Support implementation of features spanning multiple teams for multiple product or capability domains
  • Partners with product managers to drive business outcomes.
  • Ensures that key areas of technology risk including security, stability, and scalability are addressed in products and capabilities within the domain(s).
  • Interface with third party vendors and technology service providers.
  • May speak at a conference as a subject matter expert.
  • Lead a team of individual contributor engineers and engineering managers.
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience
  • 3+ years of technology leadership and people management experience
  • 6+ years of engineering experience in application design and development
  • 5+ years of experience working with the Loan IQ platform with proven track record on technology development and integrations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in development with Loan IQ APIs, underlying Loan IQ data model and components
  • SQL and core Java development skills
  • Prior experience with migrating loans from legacy Loan accounting applications to Loan IQ
  • 5+ years of experience with responsibility for technology strategy, execution, and application support
  • 5+ years of technology delivery and relationship management experience with small and large business units in a large corporate environment
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile transformation
  • Functional understanding of commercial lending processes and workflows
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Experience in application and solution design using modern architecture design principles (microservices, cloud etc.)
  • Experience in leading agile teams and delivering technology solutions in a large-scale matrixed environment

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
