Dallas, TX (central) – hybrid 3 days onsite
Compensation: $180-190K bonus
One of Vaco’s PE-backed business services clients is looking to onboard a Director of Tax as part of expanded growth of the company. This role will involve professionalizing the tax team, cleaning up the tax penalties, expediting tax cases, and putting in SLA’s and better processes. We’ve worked quite extensively with the executive team here in Dallas, including building out most of their accounting functions from scratch, and have received great reviews and feedback we’ve placed on the team. The company has seen a rapid, upward growth trajectory in the last couple of years with more acquisitions on the horizon.
Candidates must have experience with client-facing organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all tax planning and compliance efforts, including income, employment, payroll, sales and use, and other business taxes at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Oversee timely and accurate tax filings and payments across all jurisdictions.
- Advise on tax implications related to client onboarding, employee benefits, M&A activities, and corporate structuring.
- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and tax reporting on behalf of client worksite employees.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
- Proactively identify tax risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Stay current on tax law developments and guide the business in adapting to regulatory changes.
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, legal, finance, operations, and technology teams to ensure tax considerations are embedded in key business decisions.
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals; oversee performance management, development, and succession planning.
