| Job Summary | Position Description The Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a full-time instructional faculty Assistant Professor of Instruction in Theatre & Performance/Media Arts. This appointment in the Visual & Performing Arts faculty is a non-tenure track position. Primary responsibilities will include teaching 4 courses load (or equivalent) during each long semester (4-4), with emphasis on interdisciplinary topics aligning aspects of Theatre & Performance Studies, Media Arts, and other related topics as needed; mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in various productions, independent study courses, Senior Capstone, and graduate student committees as appropriate; collaboration with other faculty and staff as needed to create synergies between Visual & Performing Arts and other units in the Bass School, and supervision of work study students. Additional responsibilities could include serving as production manager for theatre productions, and mentoring students both academically and with career preparation. DUTIES: · Teach foundational and advanced courses in theatre and performance studies, as well as media arts; · Assist with coordinating production components and other design activities for theatre and other media-related performances; · Work collaboratively with faculty from other Bass School units; · Assist students in rehearsal and production activities outside of scheduled class times; and The appointment commences for the fall 2026 semester. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or equivalent degree in Theatre or Performance Studies or a related discipline is required prior to employment; those with ABD status will be considered at the application/interviewing stage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences. Preferred Education and Experience: PhD in Theatre or Performance Studies; additional graduate training in media and design arts such as an MFA is strongly preferred. Visual and Performing Arts The Harry W. | Preferred Education and Experience | Minimum Experience: Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Theatre or Performance Studies is required. Preferred Experience: PhD in Theatre or Performance Studies; additional graduate training in media and design arts such as an MFA is strongly preferred. Experience with arts administration, live event planning, and curation a plus. While this position focuses on teaching, we welcome candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to creating learning environments that serve the needs and interests of all students, as well as potential research and service to the university community. We seek candidates who have demonstrated experience and ability (or for entry-level applicants, the potential) to lead and/or work collaboratively in theater and other media productions, and to foster artistic excellence and creativity among students and colleagues in communities comprising individuals with many backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. |
