| Job Summary | Work is performed under the general supervision of Command Officer within the Police Department. Supervision is usually available in person or by telephone. Work requires the ability to make frequent decisions and occasional decisions of some significance. Work is reviewed for completeness, accuracy and compliance with departmental and System policy and procedure. |
| Minimum Education and Experience | High school diploma or GED. Two (2) years work experience as a full time Background Investigator for a Police Department agency. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. |
| Preferred Education and Experience | Previously worked in a Police Dept as a Background Investigator is preferred. Experience working with a Police Department in a capacity that has exposed the candidate to the structure and chain of command of a Police Department as well as exposure to employment and conduct requirements of a Police Department is preferred. |
| Other Qualifications | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |

| Physical Demands and Working Conditions | Duties may involve driving, walking, standing, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching above head, lifting, lowering, hand-wrist and elbow motion, grasping, and holding. Competently perform under stress when confronted with high priority situations and distractions. Perform a variety of tasks, often changing quickly from one task to another without the loss of efficiency and composure. Carry, drag, lift, pull, and/or push up to 15 pounds of boxes and packages up two flights of stairs. |
