Job Summary
The Assistant Housing Coordinator serves as a day-to-day specialist for several critical University Housing services. These services – including communication, event setup and support, package and software logistics, and card access security functions – provide a safe and comfortable physical environment for residents in their academic and personal development. The Assistant Housing Coordinator provides direct oversight of these growing services. The Housing Operations Coordinator provides excellent customer service within University Housing.

The Assistant Housing Coordinator is required to live on campus.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree; One year of experience with college students or adolescents in community groups in an advisory, administrative, or educational capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of student development theory and philosophy.

Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in a University housing environment is preferred.
Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Housing Coordinator performs a wide range of operational, technical, and customer service functions to support residential housing operations. Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide technology support for residential facilities, including Living‑Learning Community (LLC) technology and related coordination.
  • Coordinate room reservations, space setup, and logistical support for housing programs and events.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and programs within residential facilities.
  • Assist with general logistics, daily operations, and administrative support for housing operations.
  • Conduct housing tours and support tour guide coordination as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain building signage, notifications, desk operations, and shared building resources.
  • Draft and distribute building and campus communications and notifications as required.
  • Maintain building storage areas, including inventory tracking and upkeep.
  • Conduct routine inspections, including fire drills, life‑safety systems, move‑in and move‑out room condition assessments, grounds inspections, health and safety checks, and overall facility readiness.
  • Participate in staff on‑call rotations and support emergency response as assigned.
  • Engage in Housing Operations professional development and cross‑training opportunities.
  • Support resident move‑in and move‑out processes.
  • Serve as front desk backup support and provide general staff coverage during absences or vacations.
  • Escort vendors and contractors as required.
  • Provide customer service support related to Operations and Maintenance requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support housing operations.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • This is a live-on position.
  • Must possess at the time of hire a valid driver’s license.
  • Must obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of employment start date and maintain an acceptable driving record during employment to drive a UT Dallas-owned vehicle or golf cart.
  • May be required to report to on-site work location during campus closure.
  • May be required to report to on-site work location during inclement weather.
