Job Summary
A postdoctoral research associate will be working for Jiyoung Kim’s Lab and his projects.
We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral researcher with a background in materials science or related fields.

The position will require extensive work on atomic layer deposition techniques, radiation effects, materials, and electrical characterization using UHV tools, plasma systems, and cleanroom device fabrication related to advanced semiconductor processes and devices.
  • Plan, conduct, and direct a wide variety of experiments.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data.
  • Conduct experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods, and procedures; plan and execute the details of experiments according to the research protocol.
  • Excellent communication skills (including verbal and written) with current and potential research sponsors.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • PhD in Materials Science and Semiconductor technology or related fields, such as Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.
  • More than 3 years research experiences after PhD degree.
  • Design, construction, operation, and maintenance of ultra-high vacuum systems.
  • Thin film deposition systems (ALD, CVD, PVD, etc.) and plasma system with reaction chemistry and surface physics.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing, fabrication, and characterization.
  • Cleanroom expertise and Materials/electrical characterization.
  • Device physics knowledge, including radiation effects.
Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral researcher with background in materials science, semiconductor technology or related fields.

Position will focus on atomic layer deposition and atomic layer etching techniques, plasma system, radiation effects, and in-situ FTIR and electrical characterization using UHV tools, cleanroom device fabrication, and electrical characterization including radiation effects.

• Technical reports, Proposals, Peer-reviewed journal papers
• Excellent Communication skills and collaboration with industrial and academic collaborators
• Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
