Job Summary | The newly established Sun Lab at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a highly motivated Lab Technician to help launch and support the lab’s operations and research initiatives. The lab officially launched in August 2025 and is led by Dr. Zhao Sun. The Sun Lab focuses on modeling and uncovering the mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease using 3D direct neuronal reprogramming—an innovative approach that converts human skin fibroblasts into functional neurons in vitro. This approach enables the study of patient-derived neurons and disease pathology in a dish (PMID: 39088624). Dr. Sun’s long-term research interests lie in leveraging cellular reprogramming and stem cell biology to model neurodegenerative diseases and accelerate the development of novel therapeutic strategies. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic, growing research program at its inception. Minimum Education and Experience | Requires High School graduation or equivalent and six months of experience in scientific research work. Working knowledge of the various types of equipment in use in the laboratory to which assigned. Extreme accuracy in preparing materials and recording data. Normal laboratory conditions. Sometimes requires working with hazardous equipment and materials or in hazardous environments. |

Other Qualifications | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
