Job Summary | To provide journeyman level skills and expertise in the installation, maintenance, preventive maintenance, remodeling, repair and servicing of the University’s electrical systems from 12 volt up to and including 12,470 volts. Assembles, installs and repairs circuitry, switchgear, distribution systems and all related components. Frequently responsible for the training and supervision of less skilled workers. |
Minimum Education and Experience | High school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of a year of commercial or industrial electrical experience along with experience estimating small electrical jobs and overseeing a small group of employees. Texas Journeyman Electrician license is required and must be able to possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record. |
Preferred Education and Experience | Vocational/Technical Diploma or some College/Associate’s Degree in related field 3-5 years of Commercial or industrial electrical experience 1-3 years of Estimating small electrical jobs 1-3 years of Overseeing personnel up to 5 employees |
Other Qualifications | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
