In this critical position, you’ll collaborate with campus partners to ensure compliance with essential safety codes and regulations, including the NFPA Life Safety Code, NFPA Fire Code, International Building and Fire Codes, and all relevant state, local, and federal standards. This role offers the opportunity to design and implement impactful programs, procedures, and training that directly contribute to the safety and well-being of our university community. As a Safety Specialist II – Fire Alarm Technician, you’ll serve as a technical expert responsible for maintaining and inspecting campus fire sprinkler and alarm systems, ensuring compliance with all NFPA and ICC code requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, contractors, officials, and the public. They should be confident working independently, adept at resolving problems and conflicts, and have a solid understanding of local, state, and federal building code regulations. A background in fire protection systems is preferred. The successful candidate will also excel in communication, adaptability, customer service, leadership, planning, problem-solving, and teamwork, and bring a strong commitment to continuous learning. Minimum Education and Experience | BS in a related field. Three (3) or more years of related experience or a combination of education and experience. Should have the ability to carry 50 lbs. and walk extensively. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. |
