- High school diploma/GED
- Two years’ experience with healthcare claims.

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred
• Two years of experience with healthcare claims
• Strong personal computer literacy required, including working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word
• Familiarity and experience with practice management and patient accounting systems such as eClinicalWorks preferred
• Ability to work with large amounts of data, including performing data integrity checks, summarizing information, and effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders
• Highly organized and effective at managing multiple activities simultaneously; strong planning and organizational skills required
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Demonstrates the highest degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all work and team projects
• Uses, protects, and discloses patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards

• Collaborate with our third-party revenue cycle management company on accounts that are pending, denied, or require appeals.
• Upload medical records to the revenue cycle company for claims that require documentation.
• Coordinate provider credentialing and enrollment with payors for our staff audiologists and speech-language pathologists.
• Review accounts and process patient credits/refunds for overpayments.
• Review self-pay accounts to identify statements that need to be mailed and process those statements accordingly.
• Work with the revenue cycle management company to identify patients who have received the maximum number of statements and subsequently mail final claims and collection notification letters.
• Coordinate the collections process for patients with past-due balances.
• Serve as backup to the Clinical Practice Manager and the other Patient Account Specialist.
