| Job Summary | This position is part of the Fire and Life Safety Department and works collaboratively with campus partners to ensure campus compliance with the NFPA Life Safety Code, NFPA Fire Code, International Building and Fire Codes, and applicable state, local, and federal regulations. This involves developing and implementing programs, procedures, and training that contribute to the success of the organization. The Safety Specialist II, Fire Inspector, will provide support to departmental staff performing fire prevention, fire & life safety inspections, public education, fire investigations, and other assigned duties. The ideal candidate will be organized, team-oriented, and exhibit a high level of self-motivation, and interpersonal skills, including establishing and maintaining relationships with fellow employees, state/local/county officials, contractors, and the public. Strong applicants will be able to solve problems and resolve conflicts with minimal supervision and will have a working knowledge of policies and regulations (local, state, and federal) surrounding building code regulations. The ideal candidate will have a background in fire protection systems. The successful candidate will also excel in areas such as communication, continuous learning, customer-focused service, dependability, flexibility, interpersonal skills, leadership, planning and organization, reasoning and problem-solving, and teamwork. |
| Minimum Education and Experience | BS in a related field. Three (3) or more years of related experience or a combination of education and experience. Should have the ability to carry 50 lbs. and walk extensively. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. |
