Job Summary | Multiple postdoctoral positions (up to 4) in the areas of peptide chemistry/engineering, protein engineering/design, and biocatalysis are available in the laboratory of Rudi Fasan in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. The candidates are expected to conduct research in one of the following areas: (A) synthesis and evolution of macrocyclic peptides as selective inhibitors/modulators of cancer-related targets; (B) design and development of engineered and artificial enzymes for biocatalysis and asymmetric synthesis; or in area © development and investigation of novel biocatalytic methods for asymmetric synthesis and selective functionalization of drug molecules. Projects in area (A) involve peptide chemistry, peptide engineering, and molecular display/selection technologies, and activity screening assays. Projects in area (B) involve biocatalysis, protein engineering/directed evolution/design, and mechanistic enzymology. Projects in area © will involve organic synthesis, method development, biocatalysis and chemoenzymatic synthesis. We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious scientists with an established background in relevant areas (i.e. Organic/Bioorganic/Peptide Chemistry for area (A), Biocatalysis/Protein Engineering/Enzymology for area (B), and Organic Chemistry/Synthetic Methodology for area ©, who are interested to work at the interface of chemistry and biology within a highly interactive and motivated group of colleagues. |

Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Plan, conduct, and direct a wide variety of experiments. Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data. Conduct experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods and procedures. Develop research protocols and supervise graduate or undergraduate researchers. Prepare written reports and contribute to the writing of research articles techniques, methods and procedures. |

Additional Information | We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious scientists with an established background in Organic, Bioorganic Chemistry and/or Medicinal Chemistry, who are interested in working at the interface of chemistry and biology within a highly interactive and motivated group of colleagues. The ideal candidates should have a PhD degree in Chemistry or related field, strong synthetic organic chemistry skills, excellent communication skills, and a proven record of scientific accomplishments. Prior experience with protein chemistry and molecular biology techniques is a plus but not required. A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
