Job Summary | This is an intermediate-level position in the Office of Sponsored Projects, reporting to the Director. Primary responsibility includes all aspects of proposal preparation and submissions – including finding funding; interpreting sponsor guidelines for proposal submissions; reviewing routine/complex proposals and budgets for compliance with applicable regulations and policies; utilizing multiple sponsor and internal electronic systems and websites; acting as a liaison for UTD to sponsors, faculty and staff throughout the campus; resolves complex issues independently. The Director and OSP leadership will train incumbent on secondary responsibilities including: reviewing awards for acceptance; ensuring research compliance issues are addressed; facilitating sponsor changes to awards; drafts, negotiating and executing contracts; monitoring the timeliness of the submission of sponsor reports and other deliverables; facilitates project close-outs. All incumbents will remain current on issues in the field of research administration and attend training for professional development. |
Minimum Education and Experience | Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Three years of experience in the preparation and processing of research grant and/or contract proposals and in their administration, both pre-and post award or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office with excellent word processing skills. Work is performed in an office setting. Exacting accuracy in all phases of work. Proficiency in written and verbal communication to interpret administrative policy, communicate with faculty and staff, and negotiate and correspond with a funding agency. Occasional travel for training seminars and professional meetings. Good interpersonal skills and verbal skills are essential. Ability, with a high degree of proficiency, to manage and resolve a multitude of complex tasks and issues. |
