Job Summary
The University of Texas at Dallas Libraries seeks a collaborative and service-oriented leader to manage the operations of Electronic Resources and Serials unit of the Acquisitions Department. Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions and Electronic Resources, the Electronic Resources and Serials Manager ensures optimal and accurate access to subscription resources in all formats, including databases, print and electronic journals, streaming videos, and e-books.

This position is responsible for the lifecycle of the Library’s licensed electronic and print resources including ordering, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cancellations; overseeing the process of receiving and offering of gifts; supervising a unit that includes two full-time employees; communicating and resolving e-access issues with vendors; and informing the Library’s Public Services team of ongoing e-access issues.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of library service experience; and One (1) year supervisory experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience working in library’s Acquisition Department and proficiency in handing orders, invoices, and renewals.
  • Experience working with electronic resources and troubleshooting access issues.
  • Experience working in the Ex Libris’ Alma library platform and Primo discovery layer.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the full life cycle of electronic resources including trials, subscriptions, budgeting, activating/deactivating, and troubleshooting.
  • Serves as liaison between the library and its vendors to obtain/coordinate product pricing and access information.
  • Serves as liaison between the library and the UT System Digital Libraries to maintain Direct Campus Support funding and expenditures.
  • Initiate and complete purchasing process by creating purchase orders and invoices in Alma and submit purchase requisitions in the University’s eProcurement system, as needed.
  • Work with Library Systems staff to facilitate new electronic resources to be added to the Library’s proxy list and establish online access.
  • Coordinate maintenance of accurate links and holdings across all types of electronic resources within applicable library systems and platforms, including Primo and A-Z Database List descriptions.
  • Maintain and manage Alma’s Community Zone Updates Task List and ensure library’s continual access to licensed resources; report issues to Ex Libris if needed.
  • Notify Collection Development team for upcoming renewal dates and obtaining updated prices of subscribed resources.
  • Check and resolve access issues reported on the Library’s LibAnswers platform.
  • Communicate to the Library’s Public Services team concerning notable access issues with e-access resources, including databases and vendor platforms.
  • Hire, train, and supervise two full-time staff members for electronic and serial resource management, and gift processing.
  • Oversee gift receiving and offering process.
  • Participate in and lead collaborative projects in Technical Services, and complete other duties as assigned.
