Job Summary
The Program Manager of Gaming and Esports provides leadership and vision for the esports program, including, but not limited to, recruiting student competitors, mentoring, coaching, and facility management. This position will develop, implement, monitor, and allocate resources related to developing a thriving and inclusive gaming and esports program. Reporting to the Director of the Student Union and Student Life Programs, the Program Manager will lead the development and administration of all programming, recruitment, and competition related to gaming and esports.

The Program Manager will assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing a recruitment plan to generate academically talented and diverse applicants who will enroll and retain at UTD. The Program Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive program, including operating a state-of-the-art gaming and esports center that will house over 70 gaming stations for recreational and competitive gaming. Furthermore, the Program Manager will demonstrate excellence with current best practices in gaming and esports, including, but not limited to, recruitment, student engagement, relationship-building with players and stakeholders, and the ability to make strategic decisions.

The Program Manager is a member of the Student Union leadership team, which is part of the Division of Student Affairs and is expected to work collaboratively and strategically within and outside the Division of Student Affairs.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree; Three to five years experience in a field relevant to the program; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 5-7 years in/around competitive esports
  • 1-3 years generating and managing revenue streams
  • 1-3 years supervising/advising students
  • 3-5 years of experience with gaming technology
  • 1-3 years coordinating camps, training, and special programs for gaming and esports
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other on-campus departments, including Student Affairs, Information Technology, and various academic units on campus.
  • Assist in the production of camps, clinics, and promotional events to help market the program to potential students and sponsors.
  • Provide direction and support for the competitive esports program and the direct supervision of the Head Coach.
  • Develop policies and procedures to support the esports program, review agreements, contract deadlines, rules, and compliance within any associated league, conference, and affiliates.
  • Create and implement operational plans for the Gaming and Esports Center. This includes the recruitment, hiring, and training of student employees, along with the oversight of daily users and memberships in the Center.
  • Create and implement a robust gaming esports club program producing an alternative for gamers on campus that are not affiliated with the competitive esports program.
  • Work with the Associate Vice President to identify internal and external stakeholders in an effort to advance program initiatives.
  • Contribute to the success of the Student Union and Division of Student Affairs by performing all other duties assigned to fulfill the mission of the University.

Additional Information
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
