Risk Adjustment / HCC Coder (Medicare Advantage)

Duration: Contract
Pay: 20-22/hr

Schedule Requirements:

• Minimum 20 hours per week
• Remote

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of HCC coding experience
• Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment coding experience required
• Must be able to code MA HCC and RxHCC
• Must pass a Risk Adjustment Coding Assessment prior to hire
• Certification required through AAPC or AHIMA
• CRC strongly preferred, but any active AHIMA or AAPC credential will be considered
• Experience with ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and risk adjustment data abstraction
• Working knowledge of EMRs, billing systems, abstraction platforms, and related coding systems
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• CRC Certification
• Additional coding credentials such as CPC

Job Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and code patient medical records according to client-specific guidelines.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM codes following official coding guidelines and risk adjustment requirements.
• Perform Medicare Advantage risk adjustment coding, including MA HCC and RxHCC coding.
• Follow Risk Adjustment Data Abstraction Rules and project-specific coding requirements.
• Maintain a minimum quality score of 95%.
• Meet established productivity standards and project deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements.
• Utilize EMRs, billing systems, and abstraction platforms effectively.
• Communicate professionally with team members and leadership.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
