Capital Project Scheduler

Location: Dallas, TX (Corporate Office)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Schedule: 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote
Bill Rate: $50-$55/hr

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Capital Project Scheduler to support large-scale capital projects within refining, midstream, pipeline, terminal, and storage facility environments. This individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting integrated project schedules throughout the full project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases.

The ideal candidate will possess strong Primavera P6 expertise, advanced scheduling and forecasting capabilities, and experience supporting complex EPC projects. This role partners closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, procurement teams, construction teams, and project controls personnel to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule Development & Maintenance

  • Develop and maintain detailed resource-loaded project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Build and manage integrated Level 1 through Level 4 project schedules.
  • Establish schedule baselines and maintain schedule integrity throughout project execution.
  • Ensure project schedules align with scope, execution strategies, and contractual obligations.
  • Develop engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup schedules.
  • Create and maintain schedule coding structures, calendars, and activity attributes.

Project Planning & Execution Support

  • Facilitate project scheduling workshops with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to identify milestones and execution constraints.
  • Validate logic ties, critical path activities, float calculations, and overall schedule health.
  • Develop recovery schedules and mitigation strategies when schedule variances occur.
  • Evaluate alternative execution strategies and project sequencing options.

Progress Monitoring & Forecasting

  • Collect, validate, and update project progress on established reporting cycles.
  • Analyze schedule performance and forecast project completion dates.
  • Identify schedule trends, productivity impacts, and emerging risks.
  • Perform critical path and near-critical path analysis.
  • Monitor schedule contingency consumption and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review contractor schedules and validate progress claims.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Produce weekly and monthly schedule reports for project leadership.
  • Develop schedule dashboards, KPI reporting, and executive summaries.
  • Present schedule status, risks, opportunities, and recovery recommendations.
  • Prepare milestone tracking reports and look-ahead schedules.
  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting where applicable.

Risk & Change Management

  • Participate in project risk assessments and schedule risk analysis activities.
  • Support probabilistic scheduling assessments and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts resulting from changes, delays, and disruptions.
  • Quantify schedule impacts related to scope growth, contractor performance issues, and unforeseen events.
  • Assist with claims analysis and change order evaluations.

Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Review contractor schedules for compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Ensure schedule integration across multiple contractors and project execution teams.
  • Participate in planning meetings, constructability reviews, turnaround planning, and project reviews.
  • Coordinate effectively with owners, EPC contractors, vendors, and field construction teams.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 5-10+ years of project scheduling experience supporting capital projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on Primavera P6 scheduling experience.
  • Experience supporting projects within:
    • Refining
    • Midstream Facilities
    • Pipelines
    • Terminals & Storage Facilities
  • Experience working within both EPC contractor and owner-operator environments.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 Professional.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Methodology (CPM).
  • Experience with resource loading and cost loading.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience utilizing Power BI for reporting and analytics.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup processes.
