About the Role
We are seeking a Software Engineer / Full Stack Java Developer to join a team responsible for a suite of applications supporting Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) and transaction monitoring.
In this role, you will contribute to the maintenance, modernization, and consolidation of five existing applications into a more unified platform. You will work across the technology stack, with a strong focus on Java, Spring Boot, and React, while contributing to REST APIs, microservices, cloud-native development, and data processing initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who learns quickly, works effectively with distributed Agile teams, and is comfortable contributing to both existing applications and modernization efforts.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and React.js.
- Build and support REST APIs and microservices for enterprise applications.
- Maintain and enhance existing applications while supporting efforts to consolidate multiple applications into a unified solution.
- Help stabilize and modernize front-end applications using React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Apply software design patterns, secure coding practices, and application performance optimization techniques.
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, testing, and ongoing application improvements.
- Work with Python for automation, scripting, data processing, and related development initiatives.
- Contribute to data pipeline development and processing using technologies such as Python and Apache Spark.
- Support cloud-native application development, with exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Research and evaluate technical solutions and recommend approaches for low-to-moderately complex engineering challenges.
- Identify opportunities to improve development processes, application stability, maintainability, and performance.
- Leverage modern developer productivity and AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot.
- Follow applicable technology, security, compliance, and development standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of Software Engineering experience, demonstrated through a combination of professional experience, consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.
- 2+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
- Experience developing applications with Spring/Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with React.js or a comparable modern front-end framework such as Angular.
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience working with microservices architectures.
- Understanding of software design patterns and object-oriented development principles.
- Understanding of secure coding practices and application performance optimization.
- Working knowledge of Python, including its use in scripting, automation, or data processing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional or distributed teams.
- Ability to work onsite 3 days per week at the assigned Irving, TX or Chandler, AZ location.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or another major cloud platform.
- Experience developing cloud-native applications.
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
- Experience with Apache Spark and data pipelines.
- Exposure to AI/ML technologies or AI-assisted software development tools.
- Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI development tools.
- Experience supporting application modernization, migration, or consolidation initiatives.
Financial services experience is not required.

Work Environment
- Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite is mandatory.

- Contract: 18 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion.
