Judge Direct Placement is seeking a Construction Project Engineer! They will serve as the single point of contact for a large scale ammonia refrigeration project at an active production facility. This is a hands-on, on site role requiring strong technical fluency in ammonia refrigeration systems and large capital construction management.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and control project schedule using Microsoft Project; run bi-weekly status meetings.
• Monitor and control project costs, including review and approval of invoices.
• Validate and manage Change Order Requests.
• Coordinate testing and inspection with plant operations.
• Review submittals of Operating, Installation, and Maintenance Manuals.
• Coordinate submittal of all warranty and guarantee documents.
• Manage review and submittal of record drawings.
• Lead engineering coordination meetings (design, schedule, layout, pipe routing/elevations, electrical, controls), preferably held on-site during construction.
• Attend weekly site project review meetings covering safety, schedule, and budget compliance once installation begins.
• Verify all local building/fire department inspections needed for final approval; maintain documentation.
• Audit maintenance of OSHA logs and reports.
• Audit pressure test and evacuation procedures of refrigeration equipment prior to charging the system.
• Coordinate with the client regarding cutovers and system support.
• Coordinate sign-off/approval with the Project team confirming successful start-up.

Requirements:

• Extensive experience managing large ammonia refrigeration projects, ideally including legacy-to-new system conversions.
• Trained and experienced in Process Safety Management (PSM / OSHA 1910.119).
• Extensive experience with construction management of large capital projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project for schedule management.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, invoice approval, and change order validation.
• Experience coordinating multi-trade construction activities (mechanical, electrical, controls) in an active operating facility.
• Willingness and ability to work full-time on-site at the jobsite.
• RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) certification (e.g., CARO, CRES) or equivalent ammonia system credential.
• IIAR involvement or training.
• Experience in food & beverage, cold storage, or other process manufacturing environments.
• PMP or equivalent formal project management certification.
