Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Jenkins Developer / DevOps Engineer to support, enhance, and modernize our enterprise CI/CD environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with extensive experience designing, administering, and optimizing Jenkins platforms while driving automation and DevOps best practices across the software development lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Jenkins administration, pipeline development, platform upgrades, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, this individual will develop comprehensive documentation, training materials, and knowledge-transfer resources to support technical teams and ensure long-term operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, maintain, and support enterprise Jenkins environments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Perform Jenkins upgrades, migrations, patches, and platform modernization initiatives, including planning, testing, implementation, and post-deployment validation.
- Evaluate existing Jenkins infrastructure and recommend improvements to increase performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
- Develop and maintain automated build, test, deployment, and release pipelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Jenkins infrastructure, pipelines, plugins, integrations, and deployment processes.
- Manage Jenkins configurations, credentials, agents, nodes, and plugin ecosystems.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, QA, security, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable automation solutions.
- Establish and maintain Jenkins standards, governance, processes, and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on CI/CD automation, deployment efficiency, and platform stability.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and implement effective DevOps solutions.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Develop technical documentation, user guides, and administration manuals.
- Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational runbooks.
- Produce Jenkins upgrade and migration documentation.
- Develop CI/CD standards and pipeline development guidelines.
- Create onboarding materials for new users, administrators, and support teams.
- Design and deliver instructor-led training sessions, workshops, and hands-on learning exercises.
- Facilitate knowledge-transfer sessions to ensure consistent organizational practices and long-term platform support.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting Jenkins in enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in Jenkins administration, configuration, development, and pipeline engineering.
- Proven experience executing Jenkins upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.
- Deep understanding of Jenkins Pipelines, Groovy scripting, plugins, credentials management, agents/nodes, and security configurations.
- Experience implementing CI/CD processes and DevOps methodologies.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation, training materials, and knowledge-transfer resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with source control platforms such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration experience.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience integrating Jenkins with enterprise DevOps tools and APIs.
- Scripting experience using Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
- Experience with SonarQube, Artifactory, Nexus, or similar DevOps toolsets.
- Background supporting enterprise CI/CD architecture and modernization initiatives.
