About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced CAD Designers / Design Engineers (Level III & Senior) to support the development of advanced aerospace ground systems, testing equipment, tooling, and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in Creo (Pro/ENGINEER), GD&T, and engineering drawing creation, along with experience supporting configuration-controlled design environments.

This is a fully remote opportunity offering the chance to work on complex mechanical systems, test equipment, launch support structures, transportation tooling, and engineering documentation programs.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & CAD Modeling

• Develop, modify, and maintain detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Creo.
• Create manufacturing and assembly drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
• Support design reviews, model validation, and drawing quality checks.
• Incorporate engineering changes and maintain accurate design documentation.

Ground Support & Test Equipment

• Design and document test fixtures, stands, support equipment, and instrumentation hardware.
• Define interfaces between equipment and systems under test.
• Create mechanical, fluid, and electrical interface documentation.

Tooling & Handling Equipment

• Design lifting fixtures, transport frames, handling tooling, and support structures.
• Define load paths, rigging points, operational requirements, and handling procedures.
• Develop detailed drawings and release packages for manufacturing.

Configuration Management

• Support engineering change and release processes.
• Maintain product data and documentation within configuration management systems.
• Ensure compliance with established modeling and documentation standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with design engineers, analysts, manufacturing teams, and other stakeholders.
• Incorporate analysis-driven design improvements.
• Support technical reviews and design release activities.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong proficiency with Creo (Pro/ENGINEER).
• Experience creating and managing complex parts, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Experience with engineering change management, design release processes, and configuration-controlled environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into production-ready documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or heavy industrial programs.
• Familiarity with configuration management systems such as Windchill or similar PLM platforms.
• Experience designing:
  • Ground support equipment (GSE)
  • Test fixtures and tooling
  • Mechanical handling systems
  • Transportation equipment
  • Launch infrastructure or large mechanical assemblies
• Knowledge of fluid systems, connector interfaces, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Experience working with large assemblies and multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
