Appian Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Appian Platform Engineer to support and enhance enterprise applications that enable critical Finance and Accounting business processes. This role will work closely with both technology and business stakeholders to understand requirements, troubleshoot application issues, improve workflows, and develop innovative solutions using the Appian platform.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on Appian development experience, a solid software development background, and the ability to operate effectively in an Agile environment.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance Appian BPM applications supporting Finance and Accounting processes.
• Partner directly with Finance Technology and business teams to understand business processes, requirements, and end-user needs.
• Provide application support by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing updates, patches, and enhancements.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and improve existing workflows and implement solutions that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Develop and test business processes while following Appian and software development best practices.
• Troubleshoot application and integration issues and help ensure reliable production performance.
• Assist with programming and technical documentation and recommend improvements to development and application standards.
• Work collaboratively with other Appian resources and technology teams to share knowledge and best practices.
• Participate in an Agile development environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining Appian BPM applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Appian development and process design.
• Professional software development experience with technologies such as .NET, Java, C#, or Visual Basic.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and UI/UX design.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Experience with SQL databases, preferably MS SQL Server.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Appian Level 1, Level 2, and/or Level 3 certification.
• Experience with Appian Admin Console and application server administration.
• Experience with Appian integrations and plug-ins.
• Advanced knowledge of Appian, BPM, workflow development, and process automation.
• Experience defining custom data types and designing Appian user interfaces.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS.
• Experience supporting Finance or Accounting applications.
• Knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Subledger, or Financial Reporting processes.
