Time Zone Requirement: Candidates must be available to work EST hours, as the person will need to collaborate with employees in Europe.

Job Summary
Senior software engineer shall develop foundational software components for Enabling Technology applications. The scope of the work includes research, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software components in the context of clinical application architectures. The software components are either shared across multiple applications or specific to Total Hip and Total Knee surgery applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop source code for shared biomechanics and planning components that integrate into the established architectures of pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical applications.
• Participate in SDLC activities for the components, including code review, documentation, integration, testing, defect management, and code analysis.
• Ensure components are feature complete and meet defined requirements and/or design specifications.
• Design, develop, test, debug, and implement operating system components, software tools, and utilities.
• Determine systems software design requirements and contribute to software architecture and technical design.
• Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
• Generate and maintain systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
• Collaborate with geographically distributed engineering teams, including employees working in Europe.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while applying sound professional judgment and software engineering expertise.

Qualifications

• Solid background working with C++ and Qt in a Linux environment.
• Experience working with 3D geometry and image processing algorithms involving complex 3D calculations.
• Experience developing surgical planning systems is desired.
• Proficiency with integrated development environments (IDEs) and build systems, with minimal supervision.
• Experience working with revision control systems and following CI/CD development practices.
• Familiarity with unit testing as part of the development workflow.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to make evaluative judgments based on analysis of factual information.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a distributed engineering team.

Education and Experience

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical knowledge gained through experience.
• Minimum of 2+ years of professional software engineering experience is preferred.
• Experience should demonstrate an understanding and application of software engineering procedures, concepts, and best practices.
