Summary:

The Senior Engineer, Infrastructure, Security & Cloud Operations reports directly to the Director, Technology Operations and is primarily responsible for the design, engineering, and support of the technology infrastructure and architecture, ensuring overall systems availability, scalability, security, compliance, and operational integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Cloud: Supports and maintains the enterprise cloud infrastructure. This includes a multi-vendor strategy with management responsibilities specific to SD-WAN (Network), Managed Service Providers (Virtualization, Workloads, and Application configuration), and Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Security: Implements strong security measures for all company systems and data (in transit and at rest). Implements necessary policies, procedures, and tools to monitor external and internal security of all company systems.
  • Vendor Management: Participates in managing all IT vendors and takes a business-first approach to other business units' use of Third-Party Vendors.
  • Audit: Collaborates with clients and 3 rd. party auditors to ensure that operational procedures and controls follow best practices (SOC 2 Type 2).
  • Business Solutioning: Collaborates with business units to design and implement technologies that support and grow the business.
  • Enterprise Architecture: Works in close partnership with the Engineering team to ensure that best practices, compliance, and security parameters meet or exceed company standards.
  • Implements and supports automated tools and processes to proactively monitor system availability, automated IT processes, and system capacity.
  • Designs, engineers, and maintains all data communication circuits to meet performance and security requirements.
  • Implements and supports enterprise cloud-based VOIP and call center systems.
  • Performs technical interfacing with clients and vendors to develop new and maintain existing processes and resolve highly complex technical issues.
  • Ensures disaster recovery and data restoration plans are updated and tested annually. Ensures infrastructure fully supports the DR plan.
  • Develops and maintains detailed documentation and processes for systems.
  • Ensures disaster recovery and data restoration plans are implemented and maintained.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures.
  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement, responsiveness, and security awareness in all areas of IT infrastructure and related operations.

Skills:

  • Expert level of knowledge and experience in current and other best-of-breed technologies.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with all current and best-of-breed networking and security.
  • Virtual platform expertise at a senior level, including current and best-of-breed virtualization.
  • Best practices and methodologies:
    • ITIL, including Change Management, Incident Management, and Service Desk.
    • Knowledge of security audits, SOC 2 Type 2, DR planning, PII, PCI
    • IT Policies and Procedures maintenance and compliance
  • Broad and deep knowledge of technologies enabling strong diagnostic and complex technical problem resolution, and always stays up to date on technologies primarily responsible for, via appropriate training.
  • Ability to multitask and manage both operational tasks and projects.
  • Willingness to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary to reduce the impact of system changes on the business.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to communicate with the full spectrum of technical and non-technical clients, vendors, users, managers, and executives.
  • Willing and able to occasionally perform physical work related to moving and deploying PCs/Servers/printers, etc.
  • Other desired skills: collaboration and group decision making, project management, asset management, small team management, priority management, time management and organizational skills, Cloud-Based infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology
    • Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in:
    • Infrastructure
    • Cloud operations
    • Network and systems engineering
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a 24×7 enterprise environment
  • Experience supporting regulated or audited environments
  • Preferred knowledge of cloud based security and networking

Education/Certifications (Preferred):

  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • Microsoft Azure certifications
    • Network certifications (e.g., Cisco, SD‑WAN platforms)
    • Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, Azure Security)
  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or compliance-driven industries
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading infrastructure-focused teams

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a remote work environment for extended periods of time
  • Prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer and using multiple monitors
  • Regular use of hands, fingers, and vision for keyboarding, reviewing technical documentation, dashboards, and diagrams
  • Ability to participate in extended meetings via video or phone conferencing
  • Occasional lifting or movement of IT equipment (e.g., laptops, small networking devices) up to 25 pounds, when required
  • Ability to access data centers or network closets, which may require:
    • Standing or walking for extended periods
    • Bending, reaching, or crouching
  • Visual acuity is sufficient to read technical diagrams, system logs, and monitoring tools

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required to support:
    • Data center visits
    • Vendor meetings
    • Client engagements
    • Audit or compliance activities
  • Travel is typically infrequent and expected to be less than 10–15%, depending on business needs
  • Ability to travel domestically, with limited overnight stays as necessary
  • Flexibility to support off-hours or on-site activities during critical incidents, implementations, or disaster recovery testing
