Position Overview
This role provides hospital outpatient CVIR (Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology) coding support to ensure accurate and timely coding and billing.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assign CPT and ICD-10-CM codes for CVIR procedures.
- Code complex outpatient hospital surgical and interventional radiology cases.
- Ensure billing compliance by applying correct CPT modifiers.
- Resolve and work within NCCI and OCE billing edit guidelines.
- Document coding accurately within EHR and coding software systems.
- Support timely reimbursement through accurate coding practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of acute care hospital outpatient surgical coding experience.
- Hospital CVIR coding experience.
- Experience coding:
- Cardiac catheterizations
- Angioplasties
- Stenting procedures
- AV fistulas
- Other cardiovascular interventional radiology procedures
- Strong knowledge of:
- ICD-10-CM
- CPT coding
- CPT modifiers
- NCCI edits
- OCE billing edits
- Proficiency with EHR systems and coding software.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
- CIRCC
- COC
- CPC
- CCS
Preferred Qualifications
- CIRCC certification (AAPC).
- 5+ years of CVIR coding experience.
- 2+ years of:
- Coding education/audit review experience, OR
- Specialty/complex acute care outpatient surgical coding experience.
