Position: Technical Solution Architect
Location: Remote with 10-25 % travel to mid west.
Duration: Contract to hire
What You Will Do
· Lead the end-to-end architecture and technical design of complex technology solutions spanning applications, data platforms, integrations, APIs, cloud services, analytics, and enterprise systems.
· Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, secure, maintainable, and interoperable solution architectures aligned with client objectives and enterprise technology standards.
· Define solution architecture, system components, integration patterns, data flows, interfaces, APIs, and technical dependencies across multiple platforms and applications.
· Provide technical leadership and architectural direction to software developers, data engineers, integration teams, analysts, and other technical resources throughout the solution lifecycle.
· Evaluate technology options and make architecture decisions and recommendations based on business needs, technical feasibility, scalability, security, cost, performance, and long-term maintainability.
· Design solutions that integrate modern applications and data platforms with existing enterprise and legacy systems, including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
· Establish architecture standards, design patterns, technical guardrails, and development principles to promote consistency and quality across delivery teams.
· Lead technical design sessions and architecture reviews, identify technical risks and dependencies, and drive resolution of complex cross-system issues.
· Partner with Product Managers, Project Managers, client stakeholders, security teams, and technical leads to ensure the overall solution is technically sound and aligned with business outcomes.
· Develop and communicate solution architecture artifacts, including architecture diagrams, integration designs, data flows, technical specifications, and architecture decision documentation.
What You Will Need
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
· Nine (9) or more years of experience designing, developing, integrating, and delivering enterprise technology solutions, including significant experience in solution architecture or technical leadership roles.
· Broad technical expertise across application architecture and development, data architecture, system and software integrations, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and enterprise platforms.
· Proven experience architecting complex solutions involving multiple applications, data sources, integrations, and technology platforms.
· Strong understanding of modern application architecture, including APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, web applications, and distributed systems.
· Experience designing data integrations and data flows across operational systems, data platforms, analytics solutions, and third-party applications.
· Experience with cloud architecture and services in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including hybrid cloud environments.
· Strong understanding of integration patterns, REST APIs, messaging, authentication and authorization, security principles, scalability, resiliency, and performance.
· Ability to assess complex technical environments, identify architectural gaps and risks, and develop practical target-state architectures and technology roadmaps.
· Experience providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary delivery teams and reviewing technical designs and implementation approaches.
· Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts, architecture decisions, and tradeoffs to both technical and executive audiences.
· Ability to work onsite in a client environment as required.
What Would Be Nice To Have
· AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, TOGAF, or other relevant architecture or cloud certification.
· Experience with modern data platforms, cloud-native application development, integration platforms, DevOps/CI/CD, containers, and infrastructure-as-code.
· Experience leading architecture for large-scale modernization, digital transformation, cloud migration, or legacy system replacement initiatives.
Experience supporting utility or energy-sector clients.
