About the Role
The US Payroll Specialist III is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of multi-state US payroll for approximately 2,000 employees using the UKG Pro payroll platform. This role oversees outsourced payroll services, including gross-to-net calculations, employee payments, tax services, and garnishments. The position also serves as the primary administrator for the UKG Workforce Management (WFM) time solution and supports payroll compliance, reporting, and analysis activities.
Responsibilities
- Process multi-state US payroll accurately and on time using UKG Pro.
- Oversee third-party managed payroll services, including gross-to-net calculations, employee payments, tax services, and garnishments.
- Administer the UKG WFM time and attendance system.
- Manage payroll activities, including weekly payroll processing, month-end close activities, and quarter-end and year-end support.
- Respond to and resolve payroll-related issues.
- Research payroll-related regulatory requirements and ensure compliance.
- Ensure payroll accuracy and maintain high standards of data integrity.
- Generate reports and perform payroll analysis.
- Support complex payroll projects, including calculation updates, special reports, tax amendments, company setup activities, and troubleshooting.
- Research historical payroll data, determine required adjustments, and make corrections using available tools.
- Collaborate with vendors, management, colleagues, and Human Resources teams.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant payroll processing experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll regulatory requirements, leave administration, and time-off processes.
- Direct experience with automated time and attendance systems.
- Knowledge of payroll tax filings and payments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team or matrix organization.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Superior attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills and competency in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
