Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure Automation (Python)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience developing software applications using Python.
- Experience with object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience with source control systems, including Git and Bitbucket.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software deployment practices.
- Experience with MongoDB query development.
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools for coding, testing, and code review.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building infrastructure automation platforms, automation frameworks, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployment.
- Experience with Kafka and distributed event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Ansible and configuration management automation.
- Experience developing tools and services in Golang.
- Knowledge of OpenAPI specifications and API lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with Richardson Maturity Model (RMM) and API maturity best practices.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
- Experience mentoring engineers and conducting code reviews.
About the Job
In this role, you will help design and build scalable infrastructure automation platforms and microservices that enable reliable service delivery across engineering and operations teams. You will work closely with Product Management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Operations teams to develop automation solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing, deployment, and operational support. The ideal candidate is passionate about software engineering excellence, automation, API design, and modern cloud-native technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure automation platforms and services using Python.
- Build scalable, maintainable, and well-tested object-oriented software solutions.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices aligned with OpenAPI standards.
- Collaborate with Product, SRE, and Operations teams to deliver high-quality software in an Agile environment.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software, infrastructure, and performance-related issues.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices and technical standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical growth within the team.
- Modernize legacy services by migrating Ansible-based fulfillment and automation workflows into OpenAPI-compliant microservices.
- Improve automated test coverage, deployment reliability, and software maintainability across the platform.
