The Payroll Specialist, LATAM (Mexico & Brazil), is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations across multiple Latin American countries, with a primary focus on Mexico and Brazil. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while partnering with internal stakeholders and third-party payroll providers, including ADP Celergo and Deloitte.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience processing payroll across LATAM, strong knowledge of regional payroll legislation and labor regulations, and experience working within complex, multi-country payroll environments. Workday experience is required.
Candidates advancing to the interview process will be required to successfully complete a Spanish language assessment. Portuguese language proficiency is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Operations
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for LATAM countries, with primary responsibility for Mexico and Brazil.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
- Review payroll data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before submission.
- Coordinate payroll activities and deadlines with internal teams and external payroll providers.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries.
Compliance, Regulations & Controls
- Maintain current knowledge of LATAM payroll legislation, labor laws, social security requirements, statutory deductions, and reporting obligations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate implementation with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure statutory filings, tax remittances, and year-end payroll requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Identify payroll compliance risks and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
- Support internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies and audit requirements.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary operational contact for LATAM payroll vendors, including ADP Celergo and Deloitte.
- Review vendor deliverables, service level agreements (SLAs), and payroll results for accuracy.
- Drive resolution of payroll issues, discrepancies, and escalations.
- Partner with Human Resources, Finance, Legal, Benefits, Mobility, and other business functions to resolve payroll-related matters.
- Support payroll audits, internal reviews, and compliance-related requests.
Reporting, Reconciliations & Data Integrity
- Review and reconcile payroll reports, funding requirements, and payroll-related financial data.
- Support payroll-to-general ledger reconciliations and financial validation activities.
- Ensure employee payroll information remains accurate, secure, and confidential.
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management and business stakeholders.
Systems, Projects & Process Improvement
- Participate in payroll system implementations, vendor transitions, system migrations, and process enhancements.
- Support testing related to payroll system changes, regulatory updates, and integrations, including Workday and third-party vendors.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, standardize processes, and strengthen payroll controls.
- Maintain and update payroll procedures, documentation, and process maps.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant payroll experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience with direct responsibility for end-to-end LATAM payroll processing.
- Hands-on experience processing payroll across multiple LATAM countries, preferably Mexico and Brazil.
- Experience working with Workday payroll systems and integrations.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing.
- Strong knowledge of LATAM payroll legislation, statutory deductions, tax requirements, and labor practices.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and country-specific requirements simultaneously.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
- Experience working with ADP Celergo and/or Deloitte.
- Experience partnering with third-party payroll providers in a global or regional payroll model.
- Portuguese language proficiency.
- Experience supporting Workday payroll integrations and global payroll environments.
