Our client is currently seeking a Portfolio Lead!
This role is responsible for overseeing multiple IT programs and projects at a portfolio level. The goal is to ensure everything aligns with business strategy, delivers value, and stays on track financially and operationally.
Key Responsibilities (Plain English)
Strategy & Planning
- Set the overall IT portfolio strategy based on business goals
- Decide which projects get approved based on value and ROI
- Build and maintain roadmaps to prioritize work effectively
Portfolio Oversight
- Track all programs and projects across the portfolio
- Monitor:
- Progress
- Risks
- Dependencies between projects
- Run regular portfolio reviews to decide what to continue, adjust, or stop
Financial Management
- Manage portfolio budgets ($250K–$10M)
- Partner with Finance on planning and forecasting
- Ensure investments deliver expected business value
Governance & Compliance
- Establish governance frameworks and standards
- Ensure projects follow security, regulatory, and company policies
Reporting & Executive Communication
- Provide executive-level updates on:
- Portfolio health
- ROI
- Risks and performance
- Present to senior leadership and lead steering committees
Resource & Risk Management
- Allocate resources across projects
- Resolve conflicts and escalations
- Identify and mitigate risks across the portfolio
Key Stakeholders
- IT Business Partners (align work to business goals)
- Executives & Sponsors (decision-making and funding)
- Project/Program Managers (execution)
- Finance & Procurement (budget oversight)
- Enterprise Architects (technology alignment)
