Assistant Project Manager II (APM II) Fully Remote

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time position.
  • 40+ hours per week.
  • Standard business hours:
    • Monday through Friday
    • 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Schedule flexibility required based on business needs.

Summary

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for reviewing construction and/or architectural documents for new or existing projects and providing architectural support throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and develop layouts and architectural drawings according to client requests.
  • Coordinate drawings of the Draftsperson according to project specifications.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other programs to develop layouts and diagrams with attention to specification details.
  • Consult technical handbooks and guidelines and assist in landlord research.
  • Interpret and apply state and local code compliance requirements.
  • Prepare documents for project authorization and manage bidding processes.
  • Maintain accessible hardcopy and electronic files, records, and survey office reports.
  • Execute site surveys as needed.
  • Interact with clients regarding project clarification and architectural requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all architectural guidelines and standards.
  • Provide architectural support to Project Managers on multiple projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager (APM) or Job Captain in an architectural firm.
  • Experience drafting retail or commercial construction documents preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to interpret construction data, engineering calculations, and drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong 3D design skills.
  • Basic knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, or Illustrator.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong multitasking capabilities.
  • Ability to produce accurate work.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This is not a supervisory position.
  • The role works collaboratively with team members across the same or different departments.

Work Environment

  • Position may be 100% remote or hybrid.
  • Hybrid employees will work in a professional office environment.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including:
    • Computers
    • Phones
    • Photocopiers
    • Filing cabinets
    • Fax machines
  • Open office environment with moderate background noise and workplace activity.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Primarily a sedentary role.
  • Ability to:

    • Occasionally bend or stand on a stool
    • Stand, sit, and walk
    • Stoop and perform repetitive motions
    • Reach and type

  • Little to no travel expected.
