Structural Engineer (PE Required) – Contract-to-Hire
Location: Remote or Near a Jacobs Office
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (Target Conversion after 6 Months)
Job Summary
Our client, Jacobs, is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the design and analysis of building structural systems on a variety of industrial projects. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely or from a Jacobs office and is intended to convert to a full-time position after approximately six months.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering, including steel and concrete design, advanced proficiency in STAAD Pro, and an active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for building systems on industrial projects.
- Complete structural calculations using hand calculations, spreadsheets, Mathcad, and 3D modeling tools.
- Develop and analyze structural models using STAAD Pro.
- Assist with the preparation of contract drawings by providing structural design input to drafting and design teams.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and structural design standards.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, and management.
- Maintain clear written and verbal communication throughout all phases of project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience designing building structural systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing both steel and concrete structures.
- Advanced proficiency with STAAD Pro.
- Working knowledge of Revit.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and applicable structural design codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Industrial project experience is required; residential-only experience will not be considered.

- Contract-to-hire opportunity with anticipated conversion after six months.
- Remote work available; candidates may also work near a Jacobs office.

- PE license is a non-negotiable requirement.
