Title: Data Center Vertical Market Leader

Location: Remote with 50% national travel

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a national strategy for the data center vertical, including hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge markets.
  • Define market positioning, growth priorities, customer segmentation, and strategic account approach.
  • Identify and leverage the organization’s competitive strengths (“right to win”), including technical capabilities, supplier relationships, and regional presence.
  • Build a scalable engagement model balancing national account management with localized execution.
  • Act as the central subject matter expert for data center infrastructure across the organization.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing across operating entities.
  • Create internal playbooks, training programs, and market intelligence resources to standardize execution.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy, including stakeholder engagement across hyperscalers, EPC firms, consulting engineers, OEMs, and contractors.
  • Influence early-stage project specifications, procurement strategies, and customer adoption pathways.
  • Drive solution development and commercialization of engineered systems, including cooling water, HVAC, and thermal management solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for modular, standardized, and skidded system offerings.
  • Support major project pursuits, value engineering, and consultative sales efforts.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships across the data center ecosystem.
  • Partner with regional sales teams on pipeline development, forecasting, and strategic account planning.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, technical forums, and customer engagements.

Must Have / Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, HVAC, thermal systems, or engineered solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure lifecycle (design → procurement → construction → commissioning → operations).
  • Experience working with hyperscalers, colocation providers, EPC firms, consulting engineers, or OEMs.
  • Proven success in building and scaling vertical market strategies or national business initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of specification-driven sales environments and complex project delivery channels.
  • Experience in commercializing engineered or integrated systems (modular/skidded solutions preferred).
  • Ability to influence and align cross-functional and decentralized teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% (national travel).
