1. The Company
The Judge Group is working with a healthcare-focused organization to fill a Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer (Contract-to-Hire) role.
This organization operates within the healthcare services and analytics space, supporting operational reporting, revenue cycle insights, and population health initiatives. They are currently modernizing their enterprise data platform and need expert support to stabilize and optimize their environment.
2. The Position
The Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing and stabilizing a recently implemented enterprise data platform. This individual will work hands-on across the full data lifecycle - from ingestion to reporting - while helping internal teams adopt best practices and take ownership of the platform.
This is a high-impact, consultative role with visibility into long-term data strategy and potential for conversion into a permanent position.
3. Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and stabilize a Microsoft Fabric environment
- Optimize and refactor Power BI semantic models (performance, size, structure)
- Resolve data pipeline and refresh issues across the platform
- Support end-to-end data flow (ingestion → transformation → reporting)
- Work within:
- Fabric pipelines
- Spark notebooks
- Dataflows and Lakehouse architecture
- Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams
- Provide knowledge transfer and enablement to internal stakeholders
- Recommend and implement improvements in:
- Data architecture
- Semantic modeling strategy
- Pipeline performance and reliability
- Establish best practices, SOPs, and operational standards
4. Required Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, pipelines, dataflows, medallion architecture)
- Strong expertise in Power BI (semantic modeling, DAX, performance tuning)
- Experience across both:
- Data engineering (pipelines, ingestion, transformation)
- Analytics/modeling layers (semantic modeling, reporting)
- Proficiency in:
- PySpark / Spark notebooks
- SQL
- Experience troubleshooting:
- Pipeline failures
- Data inconsistencies
- Model refresh and caching issues
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly
5. Desired Skills
- Experience in healthcare data environments (revenue cycle, claims, operational analytics)
- Familiarity with structured work tracking tools (e.g., Jira)
- Experience stabilizing or inheriting partially implemented data platforms
- Exposure to BI tool transitions (e.g., Tableau to Power BI)
6. Onsite Requirements
- Primarily remote
- Occasional onsite collaboration required (Dallas/Plano area preferred)
