Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer, GenAI
Location: Charlotte, NC or Irving, TX
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Duration: 12-month contract (potential to extend or convert)
About the role
We’re looking for a Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to help build advanced analytics and Generative AI (GenAI) solutions for Corporate & Commercial Investment Banking (CCIB).
In this role, you will partner with engineering and business teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable machine learning and AI-driven solutions that drive insights, improve efficiency, and enable innovation across multiple lines of business.
What you’ll do
- Analyze large, complex datasets using SQL and statistical methods to identify trends and solve business problems
- Design and build scalable data pipelines, feature engineering workflows, and machine learning models using Python or Java
- Develop and evaluate ML models (e.g., Random Forest, XGBoost), including tuning and performance validation
- Apply Generative AI tools (e.g., Gemini or similar LLMs) to accelerate analysis, automate workflows, and generate insights
- Translate technical results into clear business recommendations using visualizations, reports, and presentations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy solutions and with stakeholders to align on business objectives
- Contribute to complex, large-scale initiatives requiring strategic thinking and cross-functional coordination
Minimum qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, or machine learning (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience with SQL and working with structured and semi-structured data
- Proficiency in Python or Java for data analysis and ML development
- Hands-on experience building, training, and evaluating machine learning models
- Experience using Generative AI or large language models (LLMs), including prompt engineering or AI-assisted workflows
- Ability to independently own projects from problem definition to delivery
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in financial services, banking, or capital markets
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and model deployment frameworks
- Experience with big data or distributed systems
- Exposure to real-time analytics or data engineering pipelines
