Professional Services Consultant 3

Location: Remote

Duration: 6+ Month Contract (potential to extend)

Key Responsibilities

  • File Migrations

    • Lead migrations from Qumulo, standalone NFS servers, and Nimble-backed VMs to NetApp.

    • Ensure stability of legacy systems until decommissioning is complete.

    • Address unique filesystem and subnet challenges during migration.

  • Storage Efficiencies

    • Evaluate ~400 corporate volumes/FlexGroups for deduplication, compression, and compaction.

    • Apply efficiencies intelligently to balance performance and capacity.

  • Replication Policies

    • Standardize and optimize replication schedules across clusters.

    • Reduce replication lag alerts by interweaving schedules and refining frequency.

  • Snapshot Strategy

    • Redesign snapshot retention policies to reduce waste.

    • Explore Rubrik integration for older snapshots.

    • Ensure compliance while minimizing duplicate snapshot storage.

  • Cluster Best Practices

    • Review and standardize settings across launch and corporate clusters.

    • Evaluate encryption strategies and key rotation feasibility.

  • Active IQ Unified Manager

    • Extend or deploy new instances for launch clusters.

    • Harden configurations and tune alerts for accuracy.

  • SMB Services Migration

    • Plan and execute migration from RHEL8 servers to NetApp.

    • Review shares and DFS pointers for duplication and optimization.

  • Networking & Infrastructure

    • Audit and correct networking configurations (LACP, MTUs, subnet access).

    • Ensure Service Processors are properly connected.

    • Support controller or disk expansion implementations.

Qualifications

  • Proven expertise with NetApp ONTAP and enterprise storage environments.

  • Experience with file migrations, replication, snapshots, and efficiencies.

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, LACP, MTU configurations.

  • Familiarity with Active IQ Unified Manager and Rubrik integration.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with sharp technical teams.

  • Willingness to travel onsite quarterly if required.
