Our client is currently seeking a Product Owner – Data Lake & Databricks (Insurance Products & Benefits)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Contract Product Owner to lead a cross-functional Agile team focused on developing and enhancing a modern data lake using Databricks. This role is responsible for translating business needs and user insights into scalable, high-quality data solutions supporting insurance product and benefits capabilities.

The ideal candidate will bridge business and technical teams, ensuring delivery of data products that are accessible, secure, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Product Owner for a Databricks-focused Agile development team
• Define, prioritize, and manage the product backlog aligned with business goals and roadmap
• Translate business requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with architects and engineers on data lake design, including ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers
• Lead Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives)
• Engage end users to gather feedback and validate delivered capabilities
• Ensure delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality data solutions
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and platform teams
• Track and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies
• Continuously improve data usability, accessibility, and product features

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in Agile environments
• Experience working within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar enterprise Agile models
• Strong understanding of data platforms, data lakes, and modern data architecture
• Experience supporting teams using Databricks or similar technologies
• Domain experience in healthcare or insurance (e.g., products, benefits, or plan build processes)
• Proven ability to write user stories and manage product backlogs
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, and data governance
• Experience supporting analytics or data-driven product development
• Background in payer systems such as Medicare or Medicaid
• Experience with user-centered design, interviews, or usability testing
• Familiarity with Jira Align and Azure DevOps
• Certifications such as SAFe PO/PM or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
