Senior Statutory Financial Reporting Accountant

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 10+ years of experience in accounting or financial reporting
- Experience preparing U.S. statutory financial statements in compliance with NAIC guidelines
- Experience working within the insurance industry (life, annuity, or property & casualty)
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent certification
- Public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional firm)
- Experience with both Statutory (STAT) and GAAP reporting in insurance
- Experience with financial systems, ledger transformations, or UAT testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
About the Job
As a Senior Statutory Financial Reporting Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing statutory financial statements to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You will partner with internal teams across finance, actuarial, and operations to deliver accurate and timely filings, while also supporting ongoing system and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete quarterly U.S. statutory financial statements in accordance with NAIC guidelines and state regulations
- Support the preparation of annual and supplemental statutory filings
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of reporting inputs
- Analyze financial statements and supporting schedules, investigating and resolving discrepancies or variances
- Execute and maintain internal controls over statutory reporting processes
- Participate in quarterly planning cycles and collaborate with business stakeholders
- Support ledger validation, system testing, and UAT activities related to financial system transformations
- Investigate and document variances during system transitions and testing phases
- Contribute to process improvements, automation, and special projects as assigned
