Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with crop insurance expertise to support the analysis, design, and optimization of systems, processes, and data related to federal and private crop insurance products. This role partners closely with product, actuarial, underwriting, compliance, and technology teams to ensure business requirements align with USDA/RMA regulations and operational realities of the crop insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements related to crop insurance programs, including MPCI, Revenue Protection, Yield Protection, PRF, WFRP, crop hail, and related endorsements.
- Translate regulatory and business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process flows for IT and delivery teams.
- Partner with subject‑matter experts to interpret and apply USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) rules, handbooks, and bulletins.
- Support system enhancements for policy administration, rating, billing, claims, acreage reporting, and reinsurance workflows.
- Analyze operational data to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or process improvement.
- Participate in UAT planning and execution; validate solutions meet business and compliance requirements.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders (product, underwriting, compliance, operations) and technical teams.
- Assist with implementation of regulatory changes for new and upcoming crop years.
- Prepare documentation, training materials, and stakeholder communications as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within the crop insurance or agricultural insurance domain.
- Hands‑on knowledge of U.S. crop insurance programs and terminology (e.g., MPCI, RP, YP, FCIC, AIP, RMA).
