Purpose of the Role
The North America Staffing Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for orchestrating enterprise-wide staffing and workforce planning for a consulting organization of 300+ billable consultants across the United States and India. This role drives business performance by ensuring the right talent is deployed to the right work at the right time—balancing client impact, consultant development, and utilization goals.
Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Staffing Lead owns and evolves talent deployment frameworks, leverages data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions, and serves as a trusted advisor to Practice Leaders and Partners. The role works closely with a Staffing Lead and Staffing Analyst based in India to execute global staffing operations at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Staffing & Workforce Planning
- Lead enterprise-wide staffing and resource management activities, aligning consultant capabilities with client demand and business growth priorities.
- Own and continuously improve staffing frameworks, utilization models, and deployment strategies to maximize organizational effectiveness.
- Proactively identify skill gaps and capacity risks; partner with leadership on workforce planning, hiring priorities, and capability development.
Business Partnership & Collaboration
- Partner closely with Practice Leaders, Client Partners, and Delivery Leaders to ensure optimal talent deployment that delivers exceptional client outcomes while supporting consultant career progression.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to Practice Leaders on workforce optimization, capability building, and long-term talent evolution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Partners and consultants to deeply understand business needs, project requirements, and individual career aspirations.
Data & Analytics
- Leverage advanced analytics, forecasting, and scenario planning to guide executive decision-making related to talent investment, capacity planning, and resource optimization.
- Develop and deliver workforce insights for executive leadership, translating complex staffing and utilization data into clear, actionable business intelligence.
- Monitor and report on key metrics, including utilization, capacity, margin impact, and workforce health indicators.
Leadership & Operations
- Coordinate daily with India-based Staffing Lead and Staffing Analyst to ensure seamless global staffing operations and consistent execution.
- Drive continuous process improvement across staffing operations, tools, and reporting.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive talent and client information.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (required)
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
Experience
- 6+ years of progressive experience in staffing, workforce planning, or resource management within a professional services environment
- Experience supporting technical or consulting organizations strongly preferred
- Proven track record of executing workforce planning initiatives, including skill gap analysis, proactive hiring strategies, and capability development programs
- Demonstrated success driving cross-functional collaboration with senior stakeholders to optimize talent deployment and client outcomes
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills, with the ability to translate complex data into executive-level insights and recommendations
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling); intermediate to advanced skills in Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with talent management systems and workforce planning tools
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to executive audiences
- Strong relationship-building, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Self-directed leader with excellent organizational, project management, and prioritization abilities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- High degree of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive workforce, compensation, and client information
