Job Title: Wireless Transport Standards & Process Engineer
Location: Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a Wireless Transport Standards & Process Engineer to serve as a technical authority and process owner for wireless transport standards within Our Common Network Database (CND). In this role, you will define, document, and govern transport standards for a large‑scale national wireless network while partnering closely with engineering and development teams to drive automation, data quality, and next‑generation network readiness.
This position requires deep wireless transport expertise, strong documentation skills, and experience influencing standards across distributed engineering organizations.
What You’ll Do
Standards Ownership & Governance
- Own and govern wireless transport standards and processes within the Common Network Database (CND)
- Define, maintain, and evolve standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency across regions
Technical Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Author, review, and publish technical standards and guidance documentation
- Develop clear documentation covering topics such as:
- Logical and physical circuit path naming conventions
- Standardized service types with emphasis on fronthaul and backhaul
- Configurations and best practices for strategic wireless technologies
Next‑Generation Network Enablement
- Define baseline and advanced requirements for wireless transport tools supporting emerging technologies, including C‑band, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), and eNSE
- Partner with development teams to align transport standards with automation and tooling enhancements
Data Integrity & Process Improvement
- Drive initiatives to improve data accuracy, integrity, and completeness within wireless transport inventory
- Support data quality indicators (DQIs) and CND cleanup efforts to enable reliable network visibility and reporting
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Lead and facilitate subject matter expert (SME) forums, bringing together regional transport engineers and stakeholders
- Gather feedback, identify gaps, and translate insights into long‑term improvements in standards, processes, and tools
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in wireless transport engineering, including exposure to network design, RAN, transport, or construction environments
- Strong working knowledge of CND for transport path documentation and inventory management
- Proven ability to research, write, and maintain technical standards in large, complex telecommunications environments
- Experience defining requirements for next‑generation wireless technologies (C‑band, FWA, eNSE)
- Comfortable leading technical discussions and reviews with cross‑functional engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry, with a focus on Transport Engineering
- CCNA certification or equivalent networking background
- Experience with optical and transport systems, including Ciena, Nokia, and Cisco platforms
- Familiarity with Granite or similar inventory and asset management tools
