Role Overview
We are looking for a contract Full Stack Engineer to design and build the Control Center — Airbnb's internal portal for vendor risk management and third-party data governance. The Control Center is the UI and operational layer that turns the existing 3P Data Sharing Catalog into an actionable risk management tool: surfacing exceptions, enabling action queues, supporting drill-down visibility, and producing audit-ready reporting. This role spans both the product frontend and the backend services that power it.
What You'll Do
Design and build the Control Center MVP: a single portal consolidating the 3P Catalog, Paved Path flows, Non-Paved Path detections, and policy enforcement workflows
Develop React-based frontend interfaces for exception surfacing, action queues, drill-down visibility, and audit-ready reporting
Build and maintain backend REST APIs and data pipeline components powering the Control Center UI
(Good to have) Support ongoing catalog data hydration, deduplication, and validation pipelines
(Good to have) Build and maintain Airflow DAGs for automated pipeline orchestration
(Good to have) Provision and manage AWS infrastructure (S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM, or equivalent)
(Good to have) Build observability, reliability, and operational support infrastructure: dashboards, alerting, and platform monitoring
Integrate the Control Center with downstream enforcement systems (access controls, vendor offboarding workflows)
Collaborate with Privacy and Infrastructure teams on data classification and governance requirements
Review and debug AI-generated code as part of the team's standard AI-assisted development workflow
Skills:
Strong experience building full stack applications - React (or equivalent modern frontend framework) on the frontend, Python on the backend
Demonstrated ability to design and build frontend interfaces for operational tooling: dashboards, action queues, drill-down views, and reporting
Experience building REST APIs and data pipelines in Python
(Good to have) Hands-on experience designing and implementing Airflow DAGs for production data orchestration
(Good to have) Demonstrated experience provisioning and working with AWS infrastructure - particularly S3, Lambda, RDS, and IAM
(Good to have) Strong system design skills: the ability to understand a complex existing architecture, identify the right integration points, and build new components that fit cleanly into that system
Experience debugging and reviewing code — including AI-generated code — as a core part of your day-to-day workflow; this is the primary skill in our development environment
Comfort working across team boundaries, collaborating with partners in Privacy, Infrastructure, and Security
Experience in security, compliance, or risk management tooling is a plus but not required
Familiarity with internal tooling and enterprise data platforms is helpful; training on Airbnb-specific systems will be provided
