Warehouse Management System (WMS) Analyst – 1st Shift (Onsite)

Shift Schedule:
1st Shift | 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM CST | Onsite


Role Overview

This position provides hands-on system and operational support for a Warehouse Management System (WMS) within a distribution environment. The role partners closely with warehouse operations and cross‑functional teams to ensure system stability, efficiency, and alignment with end‑to‑end warehouse processes. The individual serves as a site‑level subject matter expert (SME) for WMS functionality and execution.


Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Systems & WMS Support

  • Provide functional and operational support for a WMS platform, including configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring of daily transactions.
  • Configure system parameters to support warehouse activities such as receiving, inventory control, picking, shipping, and returns.
  • Review, revise, and enhance existing system logic and configurations to improve accuracy, efficiency, and performance.
  • Perform system testing and validation for fixes, enhancements, and configuration changes; document outcomes as required.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve system‑related issues that impact warehouse execution to minimize operational disruption.

Operations & Process Enablement

  • Work closely with warehouse operations teams to understand workflows and ensure system behavior aligns with physical processes.
  • Translate operational challenges, user feedback, and process gaps into system enhancements or defect resolutions.
  • Support accurate and timely order fulfillment, inventory integrity, and compliance through effective system execution.
  • Assist with planning and execution of system‑related activities aligned with production schedules and shifting operational priorities.

Analysis, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze system data and operational outputs to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Generate and maintain WMS and operational reports to support data‑driven decision making.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional and multi‑site continuous improvement initiatives to promote consistency and best practices across distribution operations.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

  • Train warehouse associates and support staff on WMS transactions, workflows, and system best practices.
  • Develop and maintain basic system documentation, job aids, and process guides.
  • Serve as the primary on‑site escalation point and technical SME for WMS‑related topics.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain strong working relationships with Operations, Customer Service, Planning, Production, IT, and external partners.
  • Communicate system priorities, planned changes, risks, and business impacts clearly to stakeholders.
  • Support alignment and consistent execution across one or more distribution locations as applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting warehouse or distribution operations in a WMS‑driven environment.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting RedPrairie (JDA) WMS in an operational or system support capacity.

Preferred / Strongly Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting WMS operations in a high‑volume distribution center.
  • Strong understanding of end‑to‑end warehouse processes from receiving through shipping and returns.
  • Experience translating business and operational processes into system configurations or functional logic.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines and respond effectively to real‑time operational escalations.
