Job Summary
The Senior Lease Accountant supports the Capital Administration Accounting department by performing moderate-level accounting assignments with limited supervision. This role plays a key part in lease accounting activities under ASC 842, including lease data preparation, contract review, software transition support, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize consolidated lease accounting software to manage and report on the company’s lease portfolio
- Execute timely month-end close for lease accounting, including preparation and recording of journal entries
- Maintain and update lease portfolios to ensure accuracy and completeness of lease balances
- Assess and classify new and modified leases and create related lease schedules
- Review new and renewal lease contracts and ensure proper setup within lease systems
- Maintain lease-related general ledger accounts and perform account reconciliations
- Assist with monthly and quarterly management reporting and ensure compliance with ASC 842 reporting requirements
- Analyze variances, identify issues, and develop solutions within lease accounting processes
- Support internal and external audit activities related to lease accounting
- Identify and present process improvement recommendations to management
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
- Active CPA license (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Demonstrated experience with ASC 842 lease accounting
- Experience preparing data for conversion or transition to new lease accounting software
- Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word)
- Ability to perform accounting analysis and reconciliations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in lease accounting
- Experience with lease accounting systems or asset management software
