Job Description
We are seeking experienced HCC Coders to support upcoming risk adjustment coding projects. This role requires accurate review and abstraction of diagnostic information from medical records in compliance with ICD‑10‑CM and project‑specific coding guidelines. Coders must consistently meet defined quality and productivity standards while working independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and code diagnostic information from patient medical records
- Apply ICD‑10‑CM and risk adjustment coding guidelines accurately and consistently
- Ensure compliance with reimbursement policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards
- Maintain a minimum 95% coding accuracy rate
- Meet established productivity expectations
- Complete additional tasks and project duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of professional coding experience
- Risk Adjustment / HCC coding experience with health plans, Medicare, or Medicaid
Certifications
- Active AHIMA certification (RHIT, CCS), or
- Active AAPC certification (CPC, COC, CIC, CRC)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, abbreviations, pharmacology, and disease processes
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment while maintaining quality
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with computer systems and coding platforms
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
- Commitment to confidentiality and secure data handling
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week
- Must work remotely with a secure, distraction‑free workspace
- Must comply with all quality, accuracy, and confidentiality standards
