Role Overview
We are seeking a Mainframe Network Engineer to support and enhance a Parallel Sysplex environment. This role focuses on the configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security of z/OS network subsystems and encrypted data communications supporting mission‑critical applications.
We are seeking a Mainframe Network Engineer to support and enhance a Parallel Sysplex environment. This role focuses on the configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security of z/OS network subsystems and encrypted data communications supporting mission‑critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support a Parallel Sysplex mainframe environment, including the configuration, debugging, and maintenance of TCP/IP and VTAM subsystems
- Configure and support all major systems and middleware utilizing SNA and IP, including DB2, CICS, TSO/ISPF, NetView, Connect:Direct (NDM), and JES2
- Utilize z/OSMF Configuration Manager to configure and implement AT‑TLS rules, including digital certificate management
- Design, configure, and implement IPSEC policies, including permit/deny rules and IPSEC VPN tunnels
- Monitor, install, configure, and maintain system program products using SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF/ISPF
- Support and troubleshoot secure encrypted data transfers, including NDM (Connect:Direct), SFTP, and FTP/TLS
- Perform advanced TCP/IP trace analysis, including IP, socket, OSA adapter, and SNA (EE) diagnostics
- Participate in system changes, upgrades, and network-related implementations across production and non‑production environments
- Provide on‑call production support on a rotational basis
- Support weeknight and weekend change implementations as required

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands‑on experience in z/OS mainframe network engineering
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, and IP-based networking on z/OS
- Proven experience with network security technologies, including AT‑TLS, digital certificates, IPSEC, and encrypted file transfers
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex, high‑availability enterprise environments
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with systems, middleware, security, and distributed infrastructure teams
- Strong hands‑on experience in z/OS mainframe network engineering
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, and IP-based networking on z/OS
