Job Title: Instructional Designer II
Location: Denver, CO (Fully Remote)
Employment Type: Contract – 9+ Months Extension possible based on performance
Work Schedule: Standard Business Hours (Fully Remote)
About the Role
The Instructional Designer II plays a critical role within the IT Learning & Development function, partnering with business leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and stakeholders to design and deliver high‑impact learning experiences. This role focuses on creating innovative, learner‑centered solutions that enhance capability development and drive measurable business outcomes.
You will apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to develop engaging instructor‑led, virtual, and digital learning content. In addition, you will serve as a trusted advisor on learning best practices and mentor junior designers.
Responsibilities
- Partner with program owners and business leaders to identify learning needs and recommend optimal learning modalities
- Design and develop medium to high‑complexity learning solutions, including:
- Instructor‑Led Training (ILT)
- Virtual Instructor‑Led Training (VILT)
- eLearning modules
- Performance support resources
- Video‑based learning
- Apply adult learning theory to ensure effective knowledge transfer and learner engagement
- Consult with learning teams on best practices, standards, and reusable templates
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with stakeholders to manage priorities and deliver solutions on time
- Support continuous improvement of learning programs and content quality
- Mentor junior instructional designers in content design and development best practices
- Perform additional duties as needed to support learning initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 6–8 years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or a related field
- Advanced experience with eLearning and video development tools such as:
- Articulate 360
- Adobe Captivate
- Camtasia
- Proficiency with graphic design, animation, and audio tools such as:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Audacity or Adobe Audition
- Strong experience conducting needs assessments and partnering with stakeholders
- Demonstrated use of adult learning principles and instructional methodologies
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, or a related discipline
- Experience working with distributed or virtual teams
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)
- Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD)
- ATD Master Instructional Designer
